Without any doughts, in the year 2008 a news of great impact was about the pitching of a pair of shoes, from the journalist Muntazar Zaidi, towards the head of the president of the Unites States George W. Bush, during a conference press in Iraq. Although it didn't hit the target, nevertheless the echo of the laughters of that day toured around the world. For that same fact it was declaired "the 2008 most talk about pitch". And in the name of peace we invite you to Around the world in a pair of shoes.

La vuelta al mundo en un par de zapatos.

Sin lugar a dudas, una noticia de mucho vuelo en el año 2008 fue la del lanzamiento de un par de zapatazos, realizado por el periodista Muntazar Zaidi, a la cabeza del presidente estadounidense George W. Bush, mientras éste ofrecía una conferencia de prensa en Iraq. Aunque no dieron en el blanco, sin embargo, a ritmo de carcajada, le han dado la vuelta al mundo. Por eso, declaro este hecho, como “La noticia de más vuelo del año 2008”. Y en el nombre de la paz, los invito a darle La vuelta al mundo en un par de zapatos. Es el título de un libro de poemas que escribí sobre ese tema. Para que comiencen a girar, les dejo algunos versos.

A farewell lesson

At the end of a long term
the one who thought he was grand,
one day came to discover the negligable power
of a flying pair of shoes.

That far from hitting the white target

Al final de su largo mandato
quien se creía el ser más grandioso
pudo un día descubrir el ínfimo
poder de un par de zapatos al volar

que lejos de haber dado en el blanco
en el aire alcanzó su blanco global
como jamás lo habría logrado
ni el formidable discóbolo de Mirón

el viento no ha podido
desplazar el peso infinito
de ese par de calzados
sobrevolando los diarios

las armas de la desinformación
en vano apuntan
hacia otro blanco
o hacia otro negro

dicen que el férreo brazo
de aquel lanzador oriental
fácilmente podría brillar
en las grandes ligas de béisbol

si en serie mundial de este deporte
él jugaría para los Yankys de Nueva York
al lanzar la bola sería capaz de desarmar
el orgullo de los Ranger de Texas

ahora por fin los poderosos
miran a los pies de los débiles
y nadie subestima el poder
de sus zapatos.

harta de pólvora
harta de quiebras
harta de bandidos

sedienta de pan

y de primavera

no es un viaje a las estrellas
es peregrinaje hacia el amor
el encuentro con nosotros mismos
en una tierra menos contaminada

el sueño de Whitman
a todos nos abraza sin color
va de las manos del pueblo
y de la aldea global

con los pies del prójimo
intenta caminar
dejémoslo pasar

es más libre que el de la dama

por eso debe alcanzar para todos.
